It’s never advantageous to engage in a Battle Royale of words via social media – it’s certainly not advantageous to go so far as calling someone a “c***t” on Instagram, when you’re the likes of Adam Richman and about to premiere your new show on Travel Channel. Lest you missed it, last week the Man vs. Food star was enmeshed in an Instagram brouhaha over the hashtag #Thinspiration. At the end of June, Richman posted a photo of himself in an extra large suit he’d ordered a year prior, after shedding some 70 pounds, including a caption.

“Had ordered this suit from a Saville Row tailor over a year ago. Think I’m gonna need to take it in a little…. #Victory #EyesOnThePrize #AnythingIsPossible #fitness #transformation #thinspiration”

That final hashtag sent users into a fury, as the term “thinspiration” is popular amongst pro-anorexia and pro-bulimia circles. As the negative comments rolled in, Richman became increasingly belligerent, going so far as suggesting one commenter ““Grab a razor blade and draw a bath. I doubt anyone will miss you.”

On Tuesday, Richman issued an apology for his behavior on Good Morning America.

“I’ve long struggled with my body image and have worked very hard to achieve a healthy weight. I’m incredibly sorry to everyone I’ve hurt,” he stated.

The Travel Channel has now postponed Man Finds Food, not indicating any reason for the decision.

“It’s been postponed, but we have no further comment on that,” said Amelie Tseng, a spokesperson for the Travel Channel.

Man Finds Food had initially been slated to premiere on July 2nd.
