Alicia Silverstone Didn’t Circumcise Her Son, Implies God Makes Our Bodies Perfect

‘Clueless’ actress, Alicia Silverstone, recently released ‘The Kind Mama: A Simple Guide to Supercharged Fertility, a Radiant Pregnancy, a Sweeter Birth, and a Healthier, More Beautiful Beginning’. It’s an extension of her popular blog, ‘The Kind Life’ “that discusses vegan and vegetarian food, environmentally-sensitive fashion items, and environmental issues.”

Her approach to parenting has received a lot of criticism, which began a couple years before the book was published. In May 2012, Silverstone posted a video of herself chewing food and regurgitating it into her son’s mouth like a baby bird. The Internet went wild and people began questioning what happened to their beloved ‘Clueless’ starlet.

In the ‘Kind Mama’, Silverstone recommends that mothers enjoy placenta smoothies after the birth of their child, calls parents who force their children to sleep in a cot neglectful, blames tampons on infertility, and suggests that miscarriage and post-natal depression could be avoided by eliminating processed sugars and living a vegan lifestyle.

In addition to all of these claims, Silverstone also insists that her children will never get circumcised.

“If little boys were supposed to have their penises ‘fixed,’ did that mean we were saying that God made the body imperfect?”

Her Jewish parents were not happy with her decision.

“I was raised Jewish, so the second my parents found out that they had a male grandchild, they wanted to know when we’d be having a bris (the Jewish circumcision ceremony traditionally performed eight days after a baby is born),” she writes.

“When I said we weren’t having one, my dad got a bit worked up.”

What do you think of Silverstone’s choice not to get her son circumcised?
