On Tuesday morning, Mark Zuckerberg and the rest of the Facebook team, unveiled “Graph Search” at the company’s Menlo Park, California headquarters.

Last week, Facebook invited a slew of bloggers and reporters to a secretive private event set for today. After endless speculation about new features, new employees, and major changes within the social media company, Zuckerberg announced their revolutionary new search engine.

“Graph Search” is "a new way for people to navigate their connections to people and content on Facebook," allowing users to search for specific information through data filtering.

While explaining the new feature, Zuckerberg gave the example of throwing a ‘Game of Thrones’ screening party in the San Fran area. You could ask “Graph Search” which of your friends live in San Francisco and like ‘Game of Thrones’, and the search tool would display users within your network who qualify, filtering based on things such as the number of mutual friends you share.

Zuckerberg went on to explain that “Graph Search” has a “living” aspect that separates it from other popular search engines such as Google and Yahoo.

“Unlike web search, every piece of content on Facebook has its own audience based on privacy settings. Graph Search is built with that in mind and honors the privacy and audience of each piece of content on Facebook,” said an online Facebook announcement.

“Graph Search” is available as of Tuesday in limited beta testing for English-language Facebook users.
