Canadian, British Journalists: World is "Ignorantly' Blaming Israel for Gaza Conflict [VIDEO]

On a recent segment of The Arena with Michael Coren, Canadian award-winning news journalist Alex Pierson attempts to put the Israel-Gaza crisis in perspective, putting a strong emphasis on how the rest of the world has reacted to the conflict, particularly in her adopted homeland of Toronto.

Pierson begins by discussing the many anti-Israel demonstrations that have been taking place in Canada, and around the world, noting that demonstrators have arrived waving Hamas flags, and condemning Canada for its support of Israel.

“As Israel continues defending itself from terrorist fire, a couple of things have become very clear: the world is very selective with the bloodshed it gets behind,” says Pierson.

Pierson is of course referring to the double-standard Israel is often dealt. “ISIS is slaughtering its way to an Islamic state, no outrage, no protests, no international condemnation, Boko Haram is also slaughtering innocent men, women and children in the tens of thousands, and yet the silence is deafening. Yet a growing chorus of voices call the Israeli-Hamas conflict ‘genocide.’ Really?” Pierson asks.

“One thing this conflict has exposed is the growing hate for the Middle East’s only democracy,” she concludes.

Pierson then looks at statistics of actual genocide, before inviting her guest on the show, one of Britain’s most respected authors, former Director of the Centre for Social Cohesion, Douglas Murray.

Murray continues Pierson’s sentiments, saying that the world is ‘ignorantly’ blaming Israel, while refusing to comment on the thousands of innocent men women and children being murdered by radical Islamists.

He also added that anti-Israel protests are simply evocative of the growing hatred, and discrimination, against Jews.

“If you don’t believe that Israel has the right to stop a group that has proposed repeatedly since its existence that it wants to annihilate Israel, if you believe that Israel doesn’t have the right to try and stop this enemy, then of course you don’t believe Israel has the right to exist, you believe Israel has the right to die.”

“This is the strangest situation we have going on in our time,” Murray says. “In Syria and Iraq, ISIS and ISIS-like groups are carrying out not just purges but an ethnic cleansing, a cultural religious cleansing of the region. The world seems to have turned away from Syria, turned away from Iraq, turned away from Nigeria – what happened to Bring Back Our Girls? It was a hashtag, a registering or a little cultural annoyance and then just move on and forget about it.”

“That’s the world’s attitude to everything with one exception and that’s Israel.”
