CeeLo Green, the Grammy-Award winning musician, will be performing at Jerusalem’s Independence Park August 19.

Numerous musicians are performing in Israel this summer, but while most are playing Tel Aviv’s HaYarkon Park or Ramat Gan stadium, the 40-year-old “Crazy” singer/songwriter will be playing Israel’s capital.

Green got his start in the early ’90’s with hip hop group Goodie Mob, who were affiliated with Outkast. His career took off in 2004 when he and DJ Danger Mouse formed Gnarls Barkley. The duo recorded the song “Crazy” which Rolling Stone listed in as one of the 100 greatest songs of all time.

Green released single hit “Fuck You” to YouTube in 2010 and in March 2012, he performed at a fundraiser for President Barack Obama where he began singing “Fuck You” with the original lyrics, but switched to the non-profane lyrics “Forget You.”

Green released the song “I Love Football” in September 2012, set to the tune of “Blitzkrieg Bop” by the Ramones. It was chosen by the NFL as the theme song of Thursday Night Football 2013.

The artist is also a coach on the TV reality show “The Voice.”

Tickets to CeeLo’s Jerusalem concert will go for NIS 120 to NIS 160 ($35-$47). Not too bad compared to the last few concerts that took place in Israel.
