Last week, Canadian electro-funk duo Chromeo (made up of Jewish singer/songwriter Dave Macklovitch a.k.a. Dave-1 and Arabic producer Patrick Gemayel a.k.a. P-Thugg) announced a score of tourdates as part of their new Frequent Flyer Tour, which they have embarked on in support of their most recent album, White Women.

The tour, they stated, is being presented by Mallard Air, a fictitious Canadian airlines company (though some news agencies last week were perplexed in reporting that Chromeo had invested in an airlines company), most likely named for Macklovitch’s brother Alain, a producer known as A-Trak and also comprises one half of the group Duck Sauce. Get it?

Now, the French-Canadian duo have taken their joke to the next level, teaming up with Funny or Die to create a fun new music video, which is also an in-flight safety video for Mallard Air.

Chromeo invite you to “fly safe” and “stay funky” throughout the video, while on board air aircraft that also serves as a club, groove station, and, if you must, a place to sleep.

“Now we know these pre-flight safety videos can be a little stuffy,” says a flight attendant for Mallard Air in the beginning of the video. “So we decided to ask our friends from the rock & roll band Chromeo to help us make these safety precautions a little more funky.”
