HBO Renews Bill Maher's Show

Variety reports that Bill Maher’s live talk show Real Time With Bill Maher has been renewed until 2011, as part of the host’s two-year deal. This season will end in November, but Maher will be back on air in February.

“He will be on basically a whole year, which has been my goal at HBO,” said HBO Entertainment senior VP Nancy Geller to Reuters.

Geller has worked with Maher for 20 years, beginning with his former show, Politically Incorrect, which was also produced by HBO. The cable network will increase the number of Real Time With Bill Maher episodes from 24 to 35 with the contract renewal. Maher is also working on a one-hour standup show, which he has previously done in the past nine seasons.
