Talk is a Finalist for Carol Bolt Award
The play by Canadian playwright Michael Nathanson was staged in Toronto.
Talk, a play by Canadian author Michael Nathanson, has been named a finalist for the Canadian Authors Association Carol Bolt Book Award for Drama.
The play tells the story of a longtime friendship that’s torn apart when the two friends find out their views clash. Talk had its Toronto debut last March at the Jane Mallett Theatre.
Nathanson, who is the Winnipeg Jewish Theatre's artistic producer, will also have his play read in New York City’s DR2 Theatre on June 22.
The Carol Bolt Award is given to the best play in English by an author who is Canadian or a landed immigrant. A number of Jewish playwrights have won the award over the past decades, including John Hirsch for Dybbuk.
Talk was also named a finalist for the Governor General’s Award in drama this year. It won a Best First Book award from the Manitoba Book Awards.
