Israeli Documentary 'Precious Life' to Premiere at TIFF
An acclaimed Israeli documentary called Precious Lifewill receive its international premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival this September, in the Real to Reel program.
Written and directed by Shlomi Eldar, a Channel 10 News reporter, Precious Life follows the joint efforts of himself, an Israeli pediatrician and a Palestinian mother to get treatment for her baby, who suffers from an incurable genetic disease. Filmed against the backdrop of the war with Gaza, Precious Life shows moments of both tension and compassion between the two sides.
The film premiered at the Jerusalem Film Festival this past July, where it received a special jury mention.
Tears of Gaza, a documentary by Norwegian director Vibeke Løkkeberg that explores the impact of the 2008-2009 bombings of Gaza on the civilian population, will make its world premiere in September as well.
The inside story of Eliot Spitzer’s downfall comes in Client 9: The Rise and Fall of Eliot Spitzer, another world premiere in the Real to Reel category. Directed by Alex Gibney, the film delves into the sex scandal that forced Jewish New York governor Eliot Spitzer to resign, with exclusive interviews from Spitzer himself, his most frequent escort and his Wall Street enemies.
Recently, the National Post speculated whether Spitzer would show up in Toronto to promote the film.
