James Van Der Beek's Israeli Wedding
The "Dawson's Creek" heartthrob marries his girlfriend in a Kabbalah ceremony in Tel Aviv.
Former teenage heartthrob James Van Der Beek – best known for playing Dawson Leery on The WB series Dawson’s Creek – married his girlfriend, Kimberly Brook, in Tel Aviv earlier this month.
The couple first met in Israel last year.
Van Der Beek and Brook, who are expecting their first child together in the fall, arrived in Israel for the birthday of Rabbi Shraga Berg, founder of the Kabbalah Center in Jerusalem and teacher of Madonna and other celebrity Kabbalah followers. They married in the Kabbalah Centre next to Dizengoff Square on Sun. Aug. 1, "a small spiritual ceremony surrounded by a few close friends and teachers," his rep said in a statement. The secret ceremony was officiated by Berg's son, Rabbi Yehuda Berg, who is famous for also marrying Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher.
On Sunday after the ceremony, Van Der Beek tweeted, “Best day of my life so far,” followed an hour later by “The woman I love did me the honor of [becoming] my wife today … I look forward to earning her for the rest of my life.”
On Aug. 6 he tweeted, “Favorite side effect of tweeting about my wedding: random Israelis shouting ‘Mazel Tov!’ as they drive by on the streets of Jerusalem.”
Their honeymoon will include a tour of holy sites around the country, according to Ynetnews.
