Star-Studded High Holidays in Toronto, Thanks to TIFF
Jewish filmmakers and actors will face a dilemma this year, as the first two days of TIFF coincide with Rosh Hashanah and the closing weekend coincides with Yom Kippur (though an extra day was tacked on to the end of the festival to compensate).
So with TIFF’s recent announcement of the celebrity guest list for TIFF, 2010 looks to be the most star-studded gathering of Jews in Toronto for the High Holidays – ever.
Besides big-name actors such as Nicole Kidman, Matt Damon and Robert de Niro, and prominent directors such as Clint Eastwood and Danny Boyle, highlights of the guest list – from a Jewish perspective – include:
Israeli directors Amos Gitai, Avi Nesher and Eran Riklis directors Darren Aronofsky, David M. Rosenthal, David Schwimmer, Jacob Tierney and Woody Allen.
Actors expected to come include James Franco, Jay Baruchel, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Lovitz, Kat Dennings, Minnie Driver, Natalie Portman, Rachel Weisz, Sarah Silverman, Zach Braff and many more.
The Toronto International Film Festival runs Sept. 9-19, 2010. For more information, visit www.tiff.net.
