"Friends" Jennifer Aniston and Marta Kauffman Reunite for Film Project
Project Five will explore breast cancer and its impact on women and relationships.
“Friends” co-creator/executive producer Marta Kauffman and actress Jennifer Aniston will reunite for Project Five, a high-profile short film anthology for the Lifetime network exploring breast cancer and its impact.
“Project Five will use humour and drama to focus on the effect that breast cancer and its diagnosis have on relationships and the way women perceive themselves, while searching for strength, comfort, medical breakthroughs and, ultimately, a cure,” Lifetime said in a statement.
Both Aniston and Kauffman are at the helm as executive producers, in addition to Paula Wagner (Mission: Impossible), Kristin Hahn (The Departed, The Switch), Kevin Chinoy (Greg the Bunny, Warren the Ape) and Francesca Silvestri (Greg the Bunny, Warren the Ape).
Kauffman developed the interconnected stories, and supervised a team of writers who penned the five films.
Aniston is slated to direct one of the films. Demi Moore, Alicia Keys and Patty Jenkins (Monster) will also lend their directing talents to the project. A fifth director has yet to be announced.
“Our hope with Project Five is to entertain, inform and inspire dialogue, research and prevention. Otherwise, our goals are small. We want these films to move people and empower those affected by breast cancer to stand tall through this challenge, which impacts all of our lives, no matter who we are,” explained Aniston in a statement.
Project Five will air sometime later in the year.
