Omri Casspi Close to Returning to Maccabi Tel Aviv
Cleveland Cavaliers Forward Omri Casspi is close returning to Maccabi Tel Aviv, according to David Federman, one of the owners of Israel's most successful basketball club.
"We are really in advanced negotiations with Casspi and for a number of weeks we have been contemplating how to act. Assuming Omri wants to play in Europe, it will be with us," Federman said in an interview.
This confirmation follows a rumor which started back in March that Casspi could return to Maccabi should the NBA lockout.
Maccabi has reportedly offered Casspi a contract of $40,000 per month until the lockout is resolved.
Maccabi has been one of the big beneficiaries of the NBA lockout, having also signed New Jersey Nets point guard Jordan Farmar.
Back in June Maccabi also announced that they signed former Duke star Jon Scheyer, also known as the Jewish Jordan.
