James Franco Presenting artwork at TIFF
The Oscar-nominated actor's art installation is making its debut at TIFF
Last year, James Franco attended the Toronto International Film Festival to present his film, 127 Hours -- for which he nabbed an Oscar nomination. The 33-year-old star of films such as Spider-Man and Pineapple Express will be presenting something completely different this time around at the festival: an installation piece called Memories of Idaho.
Memories of Idaho is a collaboration between Franco and Gus Van Sant. The moving-image artwork will feature two new films (My Own Private River and Idaho) that explore the cultural impact of My Own Private Idaho -- which was directed by Van Sant and released in 1991.
The piece will be presented at the TIFF Bell Lightbox from Sept. 8 until the end of the festival (Sept. 18). TIFF will also be presenting a discussion about the piece on Sept. 10.
Franco has a number of films that are slated to come out in the next couple of years, including Sal (which he directed), The Stare (which co-stars Winona Ryder) and Oz: The Great and Powerful, featuring Mila Kunis and Rachel Weisz.
