Date Butter Recipe
Try out this easy and sumptous recipe for delectable date butter
- Dried dates, prunes, or raisins (the amount doesn't really matter)
- spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, ginger are good)
- water and lemon juice (if you have it)
Cover dried fruit by about 2/3rds water and a splash of lemon juice (if you have any) in a saucepan (you can use however much fruit you'd like, and combine types)
Add your spices - to taste
Bring to a rolling boil
Partially cover (to let steam/moisture escape) and turn heat to low
Either smash down with a spoon or blend for a smoother consistency
Let the butter cool and store in the fridge (will keep for a couple weeks, or until the next ice age in the freezer)
Fantastic served with creamy cheeses and whole wheat toasts as a treat
Date butter is used in many of my baked products - keep an eye out for these goodies!
