The iconic Leonard Cohen has been assiduously working on a new studio album, and calling on his son, Adam for assistance. The as yet untitled record would be the singer/songwriter’s first studio offering since 2004’s Dear Heather.

"I was asked in some consultant capacity on a few occasions and I'm very happy to listen to what's being created and be asked for my opinions. I would love to make music with my father and I have in a private way, but as for a public way he really doesn't need my help or contribution," Adam Cohen told the BBC.

"There's something beautiful about not doing it just gratuitously,” he continued.

Cohen-the-younger, 39, hails from Montreal and is himself a singer/songwriter. Adam is the front-man to California pop-rock outfit, Low Millions. He also released a solo album, Like A Man, in 2011.

Apropos of Cohen-the-elder’s aforesaid forthcoming album, little is known of the content. Presumably, Leonard will further bank upon his highly successful and critically acclaimed 2008-2010 world tour, which included such songs as Lullaby, The Darkness, and Born In Chains. The album is rumored for release in Spring of 2012.
