Madoff Biography Optioned For HBO

Truth and Consequences: Life Inside the Madoff Family, the new biography written by Laurie Sandell, has been optioned by HBO to serve as source material for the Robert De Niro project.

Tribeca Films is producing the feature film with Robert de Niro and Jane Rosenthal as executive producers. The movie will follow Bernie Madoff and the $65 billion Ponzi scheme. De Niro will play Madoff, and the script will be penned by John Burnham Schwartz (Reservation Road).

Truth and Consequences: Life Inside the Madoff Family is an authorized autobiography that was written with the cooperation of Bernie’s son, Andrew. The book was discussed in a recent episode of 60 Minutes that featured Andrew Madoff and his mother, Ruth, discussing its contents.

HBO has not yet announced a release date for the film.
