Louis CK is known for pushing the envelope in his routine, and is famous for wanting total control over his FX show, Louie, and now he's found a way to cut out the middlemen and provide his performances to his fans for a portion of the standard cost, while making a hefty return.

The comedian has made available for purchase his latest performance, in 720p video, DRM-free, for the bargain price of $5 on his website.

The experiment was made to prove that if you offer quality content for a reasonable price, and without restrictions, then people will buy instead of pirate, and so far the comedian has been proven right.

After just four days, Louis posted a message on his website that he's earned $200,000. 8 days later he reached the $1 million mark.

"The experiment was: If I put out a brand new standup special at a drastically low price ($5) and make it as easy as possible to buy, download and enjoy, free of any restrictions, will everyone just go and steal it? Will they pay for it? and how much money can be made by an individual in this manner?" explain Louis in the message on his website.

The experiment was a success, and Louis has proved that with the right marketing, and a reasonable price, people will pay.

In his latest statement on his website Louis has promised to give a portion of the earning to various charities, and another part to his employees as a bonus, leaving only $220,000 for himself.
