Brad and Angelina Visit Holocaust Museum
The famous couple attended a special screening of Jolie's film "In the Land of Blood and Honey" at D.C's Holocaust Museum
Brad Pitt and Angelina visited Washington D.C earlier this week for a one on one meeting with the President at the White House.
While in D.C, the Holocaust Museum also hosted a special screening of Angelina Jolie’s directorial debut “In the Land of Blood and Honey” which explores the horrifying effects of the Bosnian war on a Serb and Muslim couple.
Jolie has a special connection to Bosnia (and many other war-torn countries) due to her countless philanthropic efforts and work at a US United Nations Ambassador. The actress explains that directing “In the Land of Blood and Honey” was very difficult emotionally, but important because she hopes to expose the war’s effects and make certain facts known to the general public.
"Not only did I fall in love with the people and the place but I also felt that their story needed to be told on a bigger level," Jolie said.
The famous couple visited the Holocaust Museum’s “From memory to Action,” an exhibit on genocide. Jolie was very moved by the exhibit as it included Srebrenica, the 1995 massacre included in her film.
"I'm having trouble even speaking about it because I spent half an hour in this room where I did my best not to look at the walls and read everything because it was reminding me so much of everything I learned in the process of this film and all the beautiful people that I met that survived," Jolie said. "It's quite heavy." “In the Land of Blood and Honey” is nominated for Best Foreign Film at the Golden Globes.
