Oscar-Nominated ‘Footnote’ to Screen in Toronto
TJFF is presenting director Joseph Cedar's award-winning film later this month
The Toronto Jewish Film Festival is presenting the Israeli film Footnote (which received an Oscar nomination last month) as part of its Chai Tea & A Movie series. The film -- which will be the last event before the festival begins in May -- is screening at Cineplex Odeon Sheppard Cinemas (4861 Yonge St.) on Feb. 26.
Directed by award-winning filmmaker Joseph Cedar (Beaufort), Footnote has picked up a number of awards -- including the Best Screenplay award at the Cannes Film Festival. It’s up for an Oscar in the Best Foreign Language Film category.
Starring Lior Ashkenazi (Walk On Water, Late Marriage) and Shlomo Bar-Aba, the movie tells the story of a father and son -- both professors at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem -- who are competing for the same award. Footnote had its Canadian premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.
