Chicago-based band, Ok Go, is best known for their over the top and music videos. You might remember the insane treadmill choreography for ‘Here It Goes Again’, the Google-Chrome powered ‘All Is Not Lost’ or the Rube-Goldberg-inspired ‘This Too Shall Pass’. In their newest video for ‘Needing/Getting’ the band has teamed up with Chevy to create an elaborate musical instrument obstacle courses in the deserts outside Los Angeles.

The video was sponsored by Chevy as part of their “Let’s Do This” campaign promoting the Sonic. “Let’s Do This” features the Sonic participating in crazy stunts including skydiving and doing a 360… but nothing tops what the band has accomplished in this music video.

‘Needing/Getting’ took four months to plan and four days to shoots. It includes 288 guitars, 55 pianos, and 1,157 homemade instruments. The band drives in a modified Chevy Sonic with added retractable pneumatic arms specifically designed to play the instruments. Each piano had the lowest octaves tuned to the same note to ensure they would play the correct note no matter where they were struck.

Lead singer, Damian Kulash, took stunt-driving lessons in order to drive the car for the video. There are absolutely no ringers or stand-ins.
