Tim Eberle is ‘The Goy Wonder’ [VIDEO]
New York-based actor and comedian, Tim Eberle, is best known for his work with the Magnet Theater. He is the head writer for Company 29, the sketch company in residence at the Magnet. Eberle also performs weekly with Brick, one of the Magnet’s resident long-form Improv teams. He has extensive training in improv and sketch, and is the author of two full-length sketch shows produced in New York by the People’s Improv Theatre.
Eberle’s newest creation is the hilarious YouTube video ‘Not Chosen’ performed by his new alter ego ‘The Goy Wonder’.
“The song is ultimately about a guy who wants to be part of this exclusive club but just can't get in. Judaism is his Studio 54, but he's wearing the wrong shoes and God is a pretty tough doorman. The Jews are the chosen people, and this guy wants to be a part of that. Everyone wants to be one of the cool kids, right?” Eberle says of ‘The Goy Wonder’s’ inspiration.
Eberle does not consider himself particularly religious, but he was raised Roman Catholic. He explains that he has always been envious of the Jewish culture though.
“I've also always been envious of Jewish culture and tradition, so it was easy to write from that point of view. We wanted the video to echo that sentiment, with the rap-video-gone-wrong idea. This guy is trying really, really hard, but it's just not coming together for him the way he wants it to.” Eberle says.
Since creating ‘The Goy Wonder’, Eberle is proud to announce that he has gotten engaged to his Jewish girlfriend. Although I’m sure recording the song didn’t lead to her decision, it’s still a nice piece of news to share.
