The Weinstein Bros and Michael Moore Resolve Fahrenheit 9/11 Dispute
“The Weinsteins have been a force for good when it comes to championing independent film -- but that does not give them the right to violate a contract and take money that isn't theirs," said Moore’s attorney, Stanton L. Stein last February.
Conversely, the Weinstein brothers denied any malfeasance on their part.
"Mr. Moore has received a huge amount of money from this film and we believe he is overreaching. He should be ashamed of himself," countered Weinstein lawyer, Bert Fields.
Fahrenheit 9/11, Moore’s stance on how the Bush Administration used the September 11th attacks to further its agenda, won the coveted Palme d’Or at Cannes, and with over $222 million in global box office earnings is the highest-grossing documentary in history.
Terms of the settlement reached betwixt Moore and the Weinsteins remains confidential, and the scheduled March 28th trial date has been canceled.
