High School Punishes Students by Playing Black's ‘Friday’ on Repeat
The student council at Kingsville District High School in Windsor, ON needed to come up with an innovative way to encourage the student body to donate towards Leamington Hospital… and they were successful.
Every day between classes and non-stop during the one-hour lunch period, Rebecca Black’s irritating hit, ‘Friday’, will play throughout the schools’ loud speakers. Here’s the catch. Once $1,000 has been donated, the song will stop. All money raised is being donated to the pediatric ward at Leamington Hospital to buy toys for children undergoing surgical procedures.
So far, they’ve raised over $600. Hopefully, they will collect the remaining money by Friday.
In December, two students at Evanston Township High School in Chicago hosted a similar fundraiser. They also needed $1,000 to save a struggling arts café a block from their school. Instead of Black’s ‘Friday’, they repeatedly aired Justin Bieber’s ‘Baby’. They reached their goal within 48 hours.
Which song do you think would be more torturous? Friday or Baby? Watch below.
