Woody Allen Cast as Aging Gigolo in New Film
The writer/director will play an escort in John Turturro's new indie film
Woody Allen, who recently won the Best Screenplay Oscar for Midnight In Paris, has been cast in a film that he is not directing. The 76-year old will play an aging escort in John Turturro’s upcoming Fading Gigolo.
Variety reports that Turturro will also play a gigolo in the film, which apparently follows the story of two best friends that are strapped for cash. They decide to go into the escort business and must contend with their local Hasidic Jewish community suspecting them of unusual behaviour.
Modern Family’s Sofia Vergara and Sharon Stone will co-star as two women that decide to hire the aging men.
Fading Gigolo will begin filming in New York City in April. A release date has not been released.
Allen’s latest feature, in which he writes, directs, and stars entitled Nero Fiddled, stars Ellen Page, Jesse Eisenberg, and Penelope Cruz. It is currently in post-production and has a summer release date.
