Adam Sandler Might Remake 80’s Classic ‘Summer School’
Happy Madison is in talks to remake the 1987 cult classic
Why does Hollywood always feel the need to remake perfection, often using the excuse that the newest generation hasn’t had the opportunity to enjoy the film? Tell them to go watch it! Every movie ever made is available either for rent or online. Does the newest generation also not have access to Netflix?
The latest announcement for an unnecessary remake comes from Paramount. Apparently since 2005, the production company has been in development limbo on a remake of the classic 1987 film, ‘Summer School’, starring a young Mark Harmon as high school gym teacher, Freddy Shoop.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Paramount has spent the last 7 years trying to find a suitable producer. Several names have been linked to the film including Jordan Kerner (The Smurfs) and Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (Star Trek). Now, Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison is in talks to produce the movie.
Let’s hope Happy Madison backs out and this project remains in development limbo forever.
