Actor and activist, Sean Penn, is currently in negotiations to star in Ben Stiller’s ‘The Secret Life of Walter Mitty’.

Based on the 1947 Danny Kaye film of the same name, ‘The Secret Life of Walter Mitty’ is a fantasy/comedy following a shy magazine photo manager who dreams of adventure… until, of course, he finds himself in the midst of an unexpected adventure while searching for a missing negative.

Ben Stiller is directing the remake and starring in the lead role of Walter Mitty. Kristen Wiig (Saturday Night Live, Bridesmaids) will play Walter’s dream girl, and Adam Scott, Shirley MacLaine, and Patton Oswalt are also lined up for the film.

Sean Penn’s role has not yet been revealed, but Deadline reported that his part would be “small but pivotal.”

Penn just finished filming ‘The Gangster Squad’ co-starring Emma Stone, Josh Brolin, and Ryan Gosling. ‘The Gangster Squad’ follows infamous Jewish Los Angeles gangster, Mickey Cohen.

Watch out for Sean Penn in the upcoming ‘This Must Be The Place’ portraying a washed-up rock star.
