Drake Sells Kosher Wine, Loves $10 Moscato
The rap superstar’s love of Moscato has increased sales internationally
Until recently, hip hop artists rapped about and indulged in expensive libations such as Cristal and Courvoisier… but Drake has changed the world’s view of alcohol choices when he promoted Moscato in 2009’s song, “Do it Now”.
Since the release of “Do it Now,” sales of Moscato have skyrocketed around the world. Not only are drinkers celebrating the $10 white wine with floral accents, high end restaurants are now serving it. Moscato has always been regarded as an unsophisticated wine and somewhat tacky, but Drake’s endorsement has led gourmet restaurants such as New York’s “Spotted Pig” and “The Breslin” to add Moscato to their wine list.
Drake’s song lyrics read “It’s a celebration, clap, clap, bravo/lobster and shrimp and a glass of moscato/for the girl who’s a student and her friend who’s a model.”
Although not the most poignant lyrics, these three sentences insinuate that Moscato is a beverage that is accompanied with celebration, lobster, and hot models, so it’s no shock that the younger generation is jumping at a chance to purchase the wine.
Bartenura Moscato, an Italian kosher winemaker, is expecting to set a record for the most kosher wine sold in a year with 400,000 cases.
US Sales of Moscato have gone up over 70%, and according to The New York Post Australia’s Yellow Tail brand expects their annual sales of Moscato to jump from 475,000 to 700,000.
Drake isn’t the only Moscato fan though. Kanye West, Waka Flocka Flame, and Lil’ Kim are fans of the cheap drink.
So if you want to party in style and not break the bank, do like Drake and party with Moscato.
