The Hole singer launches her first exhibit in New York
Courtney Love's Portrayal of a Nude Gwyneth PaltrowCourtney Love is known for many things, and unfortunately her talent is rarely one of them. Before forming Hole, Love studied fine art at the San Francisco Art Institute in the 1980’s. The rock icon has gone back to her roots with “She’s Not Even Pretty”, a collection of pencil and watercolor drawings exhibiting at Fred Torres Collaborations in New York.
The collection of artwork will most likely receive the same response as her music- you’ll either love it or hate it. The 45 pieces on display scream “Courtney Love” at the top of their lungs. Even if you didn’t know that Love was an artist, if you caught a glimpse of these paintings, you would think “That looks like something Courtney Love would create if she were an artist”, so that being said, love her or hate her, she’s definitely always true to herself.
The collection includes several nude portraits, self-portraits, and painted clothing pieces. A white dress is on display with red writing saying “Not my c*** on my dime mister” and another swatch of clothing features the words “Fu** me” repeatedly in nice embroidery.
One piece that’s garnering a lot of attention is a nude of Gwyneth Paltrow (we aren’t sure if she posed for it or not) with a baby in her arms.
If you’re interested in the exhibit, it will be held at the Fred Torres until June 15th.
