Beastie Boy Adam Yauch has Died
Founding member of the groundbreaking hip-hop group dies at 47
Beasite Boy’s Adam Yauch, a founding member of one of the most influential hip-hop groups of all time, has died of cancer today at age 47.
Yauch, better known by his stage name MCA, has been battling a cancerous parotid gland and lymph node for several years.
Yauch, along with Ad Roc and Mike D co-founded the ground breaking group in 1979.
Since their inception, the Beastie Boys have gone on to win several Grammies and were recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Yauch was unable to attend the ceremony.
Yauch is survived by his wife Dechen Wangdu and their daughter Tenzin Losel.
