Is Robert Pattinson Cronenberg’s New Muse?

Robert Pattinson of ‘Twilight’ fame must have really impressed David Cronenberg on the set of ‘Cosmopolis’ because he has already asked the actor to join him on his next venture.

With ‘Cosmopolis’ premiering at Cannes in a few days, Robert Pattinson spoke with French publication Inrockuptibles about his plans for the next Cronenberg film.

“I’m filming another movie with Cronenberg but I don’t know when he wants to start filming. It’s going to be his first one in France and he promises it’s going to be very strange,” Pattinson says.

Pattinson didn’t release the name of the film, but it is assumed he’s referring to ‘As She Climbed Across The Table’ which Cronenberg previously announced would be his next film.

Pattinson has really established himself as a talented and respectable actor over the past year, pushing past his persona of Edward Cullen. His performances in ‘Remember Me’ and ‘Bel Ami’ were highly lauded by critics, and he’s already been cast in 4 films over the next 2 years.

Colin Farrell was originally set to star in ‘Cosmopolis’, but after dropping out Cronenberg took a risk by hiring Pattinson. Obviously, the director believes that risk paid off and loved his experience with Pattinson enough to ask him back for more.

Cronenberg also has a sequel to ‘Eastern Promises’ in the works, along with a project entitled ‘Map to the Stars’.
