Pixar’s ‘Brave’ Pays Tribute to Steve Jobs
‘Brave’ is the first Pixar film to be released since Steve Jobs’ death
Pixar’s ‘Brave’ is the highest-anticipated animated film this year, and marks the film movie released by the animation company since Steve Jobs passing.
Pixar pays tribute to the Apple co-founder in the closing credits, calling Jobs “a mentor and a friend”.
Steve Jobs helped launch Pixar Animation Studios in 1986, and according to the Wall Street Journal, the film initially referred to him as “a partner, mentor, and a friend”. Pixar has not explained why they eliminated the word “partner” from the tribute.
‘Brave’ follows the story of a young girl in Scotland, who endeavors to discover where she belongs. Her world features ghost-like creatures called “will-o’-the-wisps” that are believed to lead people to their destiny.
In the closing credits to ‘Brave’, a will-o’-the-wisps floats around Steve Jobs’ name during the tribute, which The Wall Street Journal calls “the most emotional moment” in the animated film.
‘Brave’ is set for an August 17th release, and stars Emma Thompson, Julie Walters, and Kelly Macdonald.
