Jonah Hill and Joseph Cedar invited to join The Academy

Jonah Hill has come a long way from making fart jokes. The young actor is among 176 artists and executives who have been invited to join The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

"These film professionals represent some of the most talented, most passionate contributors to our industry,” said Academy President Tom Sherak. “I’m glad to recognize that by calling each of them a fellow Academy member."

Among those invited to join the Academy are Israeli director Joseph Cedar (who directed the critically-acclaimed film Footnote) and two-time Oscar winner Michel Michel Hazanavicius who’s smash hit The Artist emerged as the front-runner at basically every awards.

The members who accept the membership will be invited to an exclusive reception in September.

Hill’s next project, which co-stars Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughan, is being released next month. Check out the trailer below.
