Dianna Agron & Friends to Appear in Archie Comics

Jon Goldwater, co-CEO of ‘Archie Comics’, announced a planned collaboration between the kids at Riverdale and our favorite ‘Glee’ teens.

The announcement was made in anticipation of Wednesday’s Comic-Con start in San Diego. Archie, Betty, and Veronica will share a story, and perhaps a few songs, with Finn, Quinn, Kurt, and Rachel in a new series written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (one of ‘Glee’s’ writers).

Goldwater met Aguirre-Sacasa at last year’s New York Comic-Con.

"It turns out he's been a fan of Archie for years. His most recent Halloween costume? He was dressed as Archie!" Goldwater said.

"I've been wanting to write something for Archie Comics forever and my favorite Archie stories have always been those weird crossovers like 'Archie meets the Punisher' and 'Archie meets KISS,'" Aguirre-Sacasa said.

"I thought, 'Archie meets Glee' would be a great crossover since they're both set in high schools, they're both optimistic, they both involve singing."

Goldwater has not revealed the plot of the four-issue story, set to be released in 2013, but he says it will involve parallel dimensions, dancing, and some singing.

The Archie CEO believes this will be an incredible collaboration. In recent years, Archie Comics has introduced an openly gay character and have been visited by rock band KISS, which have introduced an entirely new audience to the classic series.

"'Glee' is courageous in their story lines and how they represent their characters, how they represent the high school situation," Goldwater said, while explaining what the hit TV show and the comic series have in common.
