10-Year-Old Orthodox Girl Breaks Weightlifting Record [VIDEO]

Naomi Kutin of New Jersey may only be 10 years old, but she’s already broke international weightlifting records in her weight class by lifting 215 lbs at the RAW Unity championships in Texas.

Beating out a record previously held by a 44-year old woman, the Orthodox girl (who’s not even 5 ft tall yet and weighs a mere 97 lbs) recently added two new trophies to her existing collection in the US regionals, including a 209.4lb dead lift.

What was Naomi’s response when she won?

“I expected to do better,” the young girl said.

Kutin started competing one year ago, with encouragement from her father. The 10-year old regularly lifts 200lbs, and jokes that her short stature gives her an advantage.

“My height is an advantage with squats as I don’t have to go down that far.”

Kutin attends an Orthodox Jewish school in New Jersey. She avoids competitions that are held on Shabbat and maintains her modesty by wearing a T-shirt underneath the regulated weightlifting uniform.

Watch a video of Kutin competing below.
