Drake Calls End to Violence After Mass Shooting in Toronto
The rapper tweets after a shooting takes two young lives in his hometown
Toronto native, Drake (Aubrey Graham), took to Twitter on Tuesday to call for an end to violence in Toronto after the unfortunate loss of Shyanne Charles, 14, and Joshua Yasay, 23, in a mass shooting on Monday.
Charles and Yasay were murdered while attending a BBQ block party. During the mass shooting, 23 others were injured and treated at the hospital with gunshot wounds, including a 22-month old toddler.
The incident, being called one of Toronto’s worst in history, follows two other very public shootings in Ontario’s capital; a shootout at popular downtown mall, Eaton Centre, in the food court and an afternoon patio shooting in a busy family neighbourhood.
The shooting on Monday is being called “gang-related”, but details have not yet been released.
In his posting, Drake says “My condolences go out to the family and friends of Shyanne Charles and Joshua Yasay. Senseless violence in Toronto has to stop.”
