Brooklyn-born actor, writer, and producer, Zoe Lister-Jones, currently stars on NBC’s hit comedy, ‘Whitney’, but prior to landing this mainstream gig, she had accumulated a loyal fan base through critically acclaimed indie films and Broadway performances.

Raised in an artistic family, Lister-Jones is the daughter of video artist, Ardele Lister, and photographer, Bill Jones. She graduated from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London, England.

In 2004, Lister-Jones wrote and performed the one-woman show ‘Co-dependence is a Four Letter Word’, which garnered her praise both in New York and nationally, and was a NY Times Critic’s Pick.

Continuing with the theme of co-dependency, Lister-Jones co-wrote and co-starred in ‘Breaking Upwards’ (distributed by IFC), a feature film exploring the relationship between a couple who decide to strategize their own break-up. Lister-Jones also contributed many songs to the soundtrack.

Since ‘Breaking Upwards’, Lister-Jones has appeared in many films, TV shows, and Broadway plays, including ‘The Other Guys’, ‘Salt’, ‘State of Play’, ‘The Good Wife’, ‘Bored to Death’, and Adult Swim’s ‘Delocated’.

Lister-Jones is the executive producer, co-writer, and star of this summer’s ‘Lola Versus’, her second project with Daryl Wein (‘Breaking Upwards’), which co-stars Greta Gerwig, Debra Winger, and Bill Pullman.

Lister-Jones took some time out of her busy “Whitney’ shooting schedule to speak with Shalom Life about upcoming projects, mainstream vs. indie, and her love for Broadway theater.
