David Blaine to go Electric For Latest Stunt [VIDEO]
The illusionist will spend 73 hours surrounded by 1 million volts of electricity
Magician David Blaine’s forthcoming illusion will be shocking, to say the least. In what can only be described as a feat of human endurance, the 39-year-old performance artist will spend 73 hours atop a pillar, as a million volts of electricity course around him. On Friday, “Electrified: One Million Volts Always On” (as the performance has aptly been deemed) will see Blaine clad in a chain-mail suit, a wire helmet with visor, and metal-soled footwear surrounded by seven gigantic electrical columns, known as Tesla coils, shooting small bolts of lightning. In essence, he will subject himself to a man-made lightening storm for three days, with no sustenance or slumber.
"I had wanted to do this for years," Blaine said at a preview of the stunt on Tuesday, at Hudson River Park’s Pier 54 in New York City.
“Being in an electromagnetic field for that long, we don’t know what it’ll do. I hope it gives me some special abilities to shoot electricity from my fingers,” he jested.
To prepare for this apparent feat of madness, Blaine has been fasting for a week, but will have access to water from a tube under his suit, and likewise be fashioned with a catheter. A system of fans will provide ventilated air.
Blaine’s "Electrified: One Million Volts Always On”, will run from October 5th to October 8th, and will be streamed live on Youtube. Take a gander at the teaser below.
