Sarah Silverman, Meryl Streep and Amy Poehler Fight For Reproductive Rights [VIDEO]
Celebrities join forces with new ‘Draw the Line’ campaign for PSA.
Some of Hollywood’s biggest names have come together for a PSA on behalf of the Center for Reproductive Rights’ new campaign, ‘Draw the Line’.
Sarah Silverman, Meryl Streep, Kevin Bacon, Kyra Sedgwick, Amy Poehler, Sandra Bernhard, Tea Leoni, Lisa Kudrow, and Billy Crudup are calling on men and women across America to fight against the ongoing attacks on women’s constitutional rights by signing the Bill of Reproductive Rights, which supports legal access to abortion and contraception.
The ‘Draw the Line’ PSA was released on Tuesday morning. It features celebrities reacting to deplorable new stories from the past year that involve women’s reproductive rights. One article referenced by Kevin Bacon and wife, Kyra Sedgwick, recalls a Republican state lawmaker from Georgia that compared women to farm animals, in an argument against abortion rights.
The Bill of Reproductive Rights states:
“We the people of the United States hereby assert the following as fundamental human rights that no government may deny and that our governments at every level must guarantee and safeguard for all. The right to make our own decisions about our reproductive health and future, free from intrusion or coercion by any government, group or individual. The right to a full range of safe, affordable and readily accessible reproductive health care — including pregnancy care, preventive services, contraception, abortion and fertility treatment — and accurate information about all of the above. The right to be free from discrimination in access to reproductive health care or on the basis of our reproductive decisions.”
