Zooey Deschanel Tweets ‘Happy Chanukah y’all!’ to Jewish Fans
The Roman Catholic ‘New Girl’ actress lights a Menorah for Chanukah
‘New Girl’ actress, Zooey Deschanel, may have been raised in a Roman Catholic household, but that didn’t prevent her from joining in the Chanukah festivities on Sunday night.
Deschanel posted a photo of herself to Twitter holding a lit candle over the Menorah. Traditionally, one uses the middle candle (the ‘shamash’) to light the other candles… it seems no one informed Deschanel of proper Chanukah candle-lighting etiquette, but at least she’s trying!
Deschanel wrote ‘Happy Chanukah y’all’ alongside the photo that was taken while celebrating the Jewish holiday with Sophia Rossi, her close friend and co-founder of popular website, Hello Giggles.
In other holiday news, Deschanel recently released ‘A Very She and Him Christmas’, with frequent music collaborator, M Ward. The album features She & Him’s updated and unique twists on Christmas classic, such as ‘I’ll Be Home for Christmas’, ‘Silver Bells’, and ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas’.
