In retrospect, it is a marriage that makes perfect sense.

I mean, when it comes to high-kicking, show-stopping athleticism, rhythm and balance, who has the potential to be a great dancer more than Aly Raisman?

Raisman, the Jewish American Olympic champion gymnast who captured the hearts of all Jews – and the world-at-large - when she performed her gold-medal winning floor exercise to the Jewish song ‘Hava Nagila’ at last summer’s London Olympiad, is about to wow the judges and viewers as the latest celebrity to join the ranks of television’s Dancing with the Stars.

Raisman, who will appear on the 16th season of the hit reality show which begins on March 18th, will compete against a myriad of other celebs including singer Wynona Judd and former Olympic champion skater Dorothy Hamill and her famous hairstyle.

Raisman has some big, Semitic dancing shoes to fill, as Jennifer Grey, the daughter of Cabaret’s Joel Grey, and the star of some landmark films including “Ferris Buehller’s Day Off” and “Dirty Dancing”, won the competition in the show’s 11th season back in 2010.

Joining Raisman and Hamill on the upcoming season are reality TV star Lisa Vanderpump of “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” as well as former “American Idol” contestant Kellie Pickler, who becomes the first Idol veteran to make the move from the singing side to the dancing side of reality TV. Comedians D.L. Hugley and Andy Dick will also compete, as will soap opera star Ingo Rademacher.

There is no word yet on whether or not Raisman has asked producers to change the name of the show to “Dancing with the Jewish Stars.”
