‘Freaks and Geeks’: The Interactive Game [VIDEO]

What can be said about ‘Freaks and Geeks’? It’s considered by some (including imdb reviewers) to be one of the best TV shows of all time. It launched the careers of many A-listers including Judd Apatow, Seth Rogen, Jason Segel, and James Franco. It celebrated the underdogs of the high school hierarchy, instead of the boring popular kids… but most importantly, it was cancelled after only one season. Huh?

Just like ‘My So-Called Life,’ the network was unhappy with the numbers and decided to jump the gun and kill the show before a fan base could be established. Since it’s cancellation in 2000, however, the show lives on through fan clubs, DVD viewing parties, and now… an interactive game.

Created by TheFineBros, best known for their React series (Kids React, Teens React, etc), the ‘Freaks & Geeks Interactive Game’ currently only has a “Freaks” version, but the “Geeks” version is apparently in production.

The game follows the plot of the show loosely. In the “Freaks” game, you play as Lindsay Weir (Linda Cardellini), a former ‘Mathlete’ who becomes an atheist after the death of her grandmother, eventually leading her to befriend a group of outcasts, referred to as “Freaks” by the rest of the school.

The interactive game allow you to make choices for Lindsay, either following the course of the show or diverging from the original narrative. Every time you make a decision, you are directed to a new video. You are responsible for determining whether Lindsay remains a freaks or returns to her past as a Mathlete.

Check it out in the video below.
