Natalie Portman’s Husband is Converting to Judaism

Israeli-born actress, Natalie Portman’s love of Judaism has rubbed off on her French choreographer husband, Benjamin Millepied. According to a recent interview with Yedioth Ahronoth, Millepied is converting to his wife’s religion, stating that he was “in the middle of the conversion process… I hope that soon it will come to an end and I will become a Jew.”

Millepied adds that becoming Jewish “is very important to me.”

Portman, Millepied, and their son Aleph, are currently visiting Israel for several weeks while the Hollywood actress works on her directorial debut, an adaptation of Amos Oz’s ‘A Tale of Love and Darkness.’

Millepied and Portman met on the set of ‘Black Swan’ in 2010, and married in 2012 at a small Jewish ceremony in Big Sur, California surrounded by close family and friends.

The couple recently relocated to Paris, where Millepied was appointed the new director of dance at the Paris Opera Ballet. In the aforementioned interview, Millepied also noted that he loves Israel and hopes to make the country like a second home.
