Harel Skaat Representing Israel at Eurovision
Harel Skaat has been selected to represent Israel in the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest taking place in May. The popular Israeli singer, who placed second in Kokhav Nolad (Israel’s Pop Idol), was chosen by a special committee of the Israel Broadcasting Authority.
Norwegian singer Alexander Rybak came in first place in Eurovision 2009, winning his country the honour of hosting Eurovision 2010, which will mark the 55th edition of the competition.
The song the 28-year-old Skaat will sing will be selected by his fans. Viewers will be able to tune into a special TV broadcast showcasing a number of options.
Following his run on Kokhav Nolad in 2004, Skaat emerged with a large fanbase. He participated in musicals – including He Who Dreamed, based on the last 10 years of former Israeli prime minister Yitzhak Rabin – before releasing his debut album in 2006 which produced a string of hits.
