Well-known Spanish artist Eugenio Merino is the topic of much discussion regarding his installation at the International Art Fair in Spain. His work, described as offensive, displays a Hasidic Jew standing on the shoulders of a priest, who is kneeling on a Muslim prostrated in prayer.

Rafi Schutz, the Israeli Ambassador to Spain, released a statement requesting the removal of the works from the Fair: “…in the body of this Spanish artist’s work, there are elements offensive to Jews, Israelis and undoubtedly others as well. An offensive message doesn’t stop being offensive simply because it aims to be a work of art.”

The artist also made a statement regarding the two of five works he has on display. "The aim was to display the wonder in the co-existence of the three religions, each making a common effort to reach God," he told reporters.

The installation remains intact at the moment.
