On the MapPic: Jewish Women's Archive

The Jewish Women’s Archive is putting Jewish women back on the map. Literally. As part of Women’s History Month, the group has concocted a Google map that pins down the locations of famous landmarks in Jewish women's history.

Some of the entries include Barbra Streisand’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Statue of Liberty where Emma Lazarus’s poem is engraved on the base. The most recent additions feature the home of Montreal poet and writer Shulamis Yelin and Port of Quebec, the site where Jewish Frenchwoman Esther Brandeau disguised herself as a man for five years to avoid captivity during the 18th century.

JWA is encouraging everyone to contribute locations on the map as well as to submit photos.
