While curating his film The Room (2003) in Los Angeles recently, Tommy Wiseau may have selected Dave Franco to star in the upcoming film about the creation of The Room.

After the screening, Dave Franco made his presence known by asking “Tommy, how do you feel about me playing Greg Sestero in the movie?” during a Q&A session. The crowd’s response was a roar of cheers and Wiseau seemed to agree with them.

“That’s what I say!” Wiseau said, “It’s a good choice!”

Sometime last year Wiseau’s co-star Greg Sestero wrote a behind-the-scenes book about the creation of the film The Room titled The Disaster Artist. Of course, right after it was published, Seth Rogen’s production company promptly bought the film rights. Additionally, actor James Franco will supposedly be directing and also playing the role of Tommy Wiseau – meaning the Franco brothers will have an opportunity to star alongside each other in lead roles.

“No way!” Franco exclaimed when Wiseau gave his approval and waved Dave Franco on stage.

“I didn’t want to say it, but it happened, so. He’s a good guy,” Wiseau explained.

According to 3News Online Entertainment editor, Daniel Rutledge, Christopher Mintz-Plasse attended the screening alongside his Neighbours co-star. Rutledge explained that although the idea of The Disaster Artist being turned into a film was there, “Wiseau was coy and typically unreadable about it”. However, Rutledge did reveal that the screening was very entertaining.

“Tommy also did a hilariously bad impersonation of James Franco, and took a slight dig at Dave’s recent film Neighbors for taking the same name as his upcoming project The Neighbours,” the editor recalled.
