David Blatt, Maccabi Tel Aviv’s coach, who led them to their 6th EuroLeague championship last month, has been rumored to be a potential pick for several coaching positions within the NBA.

According to the Associated Press, the Cleveland Cavaliers contacted the American-Israeli with regards to their vacant head coach position.

The Cavaliers, who last month fired head coach Mike Brown for the second time, did not comment on the reports.

Likewise, New York, Minnesota, and Golden State are said to be interested in Blatt, who holds both a U.S. and Israeli citizenship. Reportedly, Blatt, a Boston native, has previously turned down NBA coaching jobs, though he has recently stated that he’d be interested in joining the big leagues.

Maccabi Tel Aviv’s recent Euroleague title was thanks in no small part to Blatt, who previously coached Russia towards a bronze medal in the 2012 Olympics.

Blatt played for Princeton from 1977-1981, and was a member of the U.S. gold medal-winning men’s basketball team at the 1981 Maccabiah Games. He played for several teams in Israel until a 1993 lead him to take up coaching.
