International rap superstar, Drake, is being sued by Chicago-based music promoters Status Entertainment for backing out of two shows in 2012.

According to legal papers filed in an Illinois court last week, Status Entertainment allege that the ‘Take Care’ singer signed a contract to perform for $250,000. The event was cancelled, but Drake had already received a $100,000 advance. Reportedly, Drake’s team promised to refund the advance, but never did.

Status Entertainment also claims that they attempted to arrange another show at a larger venue, but once again, Drake refused to fulfill his contract because he did agree with the previously agreed upon contract fee… after once again accepting the $100,000 advance.

A spokesperson for Drake claimed that the price of the performance changed “because our value went up.”

Status’ lawsuit demands $200,000 (the return of the 2 $100,000 advances) plus interest and court fees.
