El Al Introduces New Entertainment Experience

Israel’s national airline carrier, EL AL, has introduced a new innovative entertainment experience for passengers on all flights to and from destinations in Europe. The passengers will be able to stream the state-of-the-art new system on their own personal devices.

The new system, called DreamStream, is based on streaming technology, and broadcasts VOD entertainment content direct to the passengers’ smartphones, tablets or laptop computers.

The service is currently available on three of the airline’s aircraft and the company has confirmed that they will complete installation of the system on additional planes in its 737-800, 737-900 and 767 fleets.

“Continuing the renewal impetus, EL AL is one of the first airlines in the world and the first in Europe to offer streaming service on routes to/from Europe, providing an innovative informational and entertainment experience,” said EL AL CEO David Maimon . “With entertainment such an integral part of flying today, we at EL AL undertook to invest in this state-of-the-art upgrade on our aircraft.”

For passengers to enjoy the entertainment system on their tablets or smartphones, they must download the DreamStreamBy EL AL application to their device. For laptop computers, passengers should download Microsoft Silverlight and check its compatibility on the EL AL website. The application cannot be downloaded after takeoff.

This new entertainment system from the Israeli airline carrier won the Crystal Cabin Award in 2012 and the 2012 Apex Avion Award. Simple and user-friendly, the system gives customers full control in choosing films and programs at the time that suits them.
